Private sector is the only way out
  • Only 4-5% get government jobs
  • Municipal minister KTR says in the council

Hyderabad, Velugu: The state minister K Taraka Rama Rao said in the assembly that there was no scope to provide employment to majority of people except by encouraging private sector and inviting investments. He clarified that only 4% of people would get government jobs. This was the situation not only in Telangana, but in the entire world. “Only 4-5% of people will be able to get direct employment in government units and an indirect employment in public sector units. Out of 4 crore population in Telangana, the percentage of people doing government jobs is only 8-9 lakhs and it means that only 2.5% of population is getting government jobs. The remaining 97.5% of people has to be provided employment in other ways”  the minister explained. He said that reservation for locals in industries was very much confusing and commented that the people in Telangana would not work hard and that was the reason there was influx of people from other states to get some kind of work here and that our people only prefer Dubai. An effort will be made to open the industries that have been closed, he said. Speaking in the legislative council during a short discussion on industries, KTR answered questions raised by the members. With the construction of Kalleswaram project with an investment of one lakh crore, there was an yeild of paddy worth Rs4.5 lakh crore. While charging the central government for not doing any financial help to the state, and that it was very uncalled for to sell public sector units. “Power is not permanent for anybody. Telangana society is permanent. I have suggested in the meeting held with the prime minister Modi that a combined formula of innovation, infrastructure and inclusive growth should be followed”. KTR refuted the charge of the opposition that the state was thrown into a debt trap. He asserted that every rupee brought from outside was spent on the state’s development. Out of 17,300 applications for the start of industries, 13,000 industries were given permission and that production have been started in them. The per capita income that was stood at Rs1.12 lakh in 2014 increased to Rs2.57 lakh in 2020. He said that subsidies were given to STs and SCs through T-pride scheme. The Congress MLA demanded that closed industries should be opened and also should be given subsidies and exceptions from tax and electricity bills. He said that more than 12,000 small industries were closed in the state and that it was a very agonising issue.
