నవంబర్ 7న ఒట్టావాలో జరిగిన దీపావళి వేడుకలకు కెనడా ప్రధాని జస్టిన్ ట్రూడో హాజరయ్యారు. పార్లమెంట్ హిల్ వద్ద దీపాలు వెలిగించడం కోసం దేశంలోని ఇండియన్ కమ్యూనిటీతో కలిసి వచ్చారు. భారత్‌తో కెనడా సంబంధాలు అంతంతమాత్రంగా ఉన్న సమయంలో ఈ ఘటన చోటు చేసుకోవడం చర్చనీయాంశంగా మారింది.
ఈ సంఘటనకు సంబంధించిన ఫొటోలను సోషల్ మీడియాలో షేర్ చేసిన ట్రూడో.. "ఈ వారం తర్వాత ప్రజలు దీపావళి, బండి చోర్ దివస్‌లను జరుపుకుంటారు. పార్లమెంట్ హిల్‌లో నిన్న జరిగిన కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రతి ఒక్కరి జీవితాల్లో వెలుగులు నింపుతాయి. ఈ వేడుకలు మనకు రాబోయే సంవత్సరానికి ఆశాజనకంగా ఉంటాయని నేను భావిస్తున్నాను. దీపావళి శుభాకాంక్షలు.. బందీ చోర్ దివస్ శుభాకాంక్షలు" అని అన్నారాయన.

పార్లమెంట్ హిల్ వద్ద దీపావళి వేడుకలు ఇండో-కెనడియన్ పార్లమెంటేరియన్ చంద్రశేఖర్ ఆర్య నేతృత్వంలో జరిగాయి. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ఒట్టావా, గ్రేటర్ టొరంటో ఏరియా, మాంట్రియల్‌తో సహా వివిధ కెనడియన్ నగరాల నుంచి భారతీయులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
